For investors who’ve held Apple stock since Tim Cook took over as CEO, the reign has been a huge financial win: Apple stock has surged nearly 1,200% over the past decade. past century.

According to CNBC, if you spent $1,000 buying Apple stock on the day Tim Cook became CEO in 2011, the shares you hold in your hand are worth up to $12,970.28. In other words, a $1,000 investment in the S&P 500 index, which yielded only 365.9% over the same period, is now worth $4,659.

Over the past decade, Apple hasn’t launched too many new products. Apple Watch and AirPods launched in 2015 and 2016 respectively are the two most notable new products that Apple launched under Tim Cook. The rest of the new products are only in the form of annual iPhone, iPad and Mac computer upgrades.

However, CEO Tim Cook has helped boost Apple’s profits by taking full advantage of its massive loyal users, making them an important and steady source of revenue through services like Apple Music and iCloud.

Revenue from Apple’s services business (which includes the Apple News+ magazine service and the Apple TV+ streaming app) jumped from $2.95 billion in fiscal 2011 to $53.77 billion in fiscal 2020.

CEO Tim Cook over the past decade has turned Apple into a real “giant”. Revenue hit a record $111 billion in the second quarter of 2021, four times what the company had in the same quarter of 2011. Profits also more than quadrupled from $6 billion in the first quarter of 2011 to $28.8 billion. USD in the first quarter of 2021. Apple is holding nearly $200 billion in cash, up from $76 billion 10 years ago. Not only that, the staff size also increased to 147,000 full-time employees from 60,400 in the year Steve Jobs resigned.

Under the leadership of Mr. Tim Cook, Apple’s market capitalization increased from 349 billion USD to 2,450 billion USD. Apple was the first public company in the US to reach the $1 trillion mark in market capitalization in 2018, and just two years later has conquered the $2 trillion milestone.

As of June 2021, Apple earns an average of $10,000 per second. During the period from 2013 to 2018, iPhone sales each year were higher than the total iPhone sales in the five years Steve Jobs was in power.

For some, the money Apple earns alone is proof that CEO Tim Cook is hugely successful. But financial performance is only half the story. If we hope that Tim Cook is a product visionary like Steve Jobs, perhaps Apple’s achievements will be less impressive.

Apple under the reign of Tim Cook has not really released a world-changing hardware product like the iPhone, iPad or Mac, but mostly iPhone accessories like Apple Watch and AirPods.

“Steve is pretty adamant that a big screen phone isn’t something we’re going to do,” said technology analyst and former Apple chief marketing officer Michael Gartenberg. we can afford it, so Apple will do it.”

Clearly, after ten years at the helm of CEO Tim Cook, Apple has become a bigger and better version of itself. However, that does not mean that Apple is an impregnable entity. The three prominent challenges facing the company are: growth, geopolitics and competition.
