ICPC discovers a warehouse full of empowerment goods intended to be distributed to adolescents and women Two years ago.

ICPC uncovers warehouse

The Independent Commission on Corruption Practices and Other Related Offences (ICPC) has discovered a warehouse containing empowerment goods that were supposed to be distributed to the youth and women in the Oyi/Anayamelum Federal Constituency in Anambra State two years ago.

According to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), the ICPC discovered the information during the state’s current Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Exercise.

The materials were reportedly housed in a warehouse supposedly belonging to the politician, according to the agency.

Grinding machines, sewing machines, driers, and clippers were among the products purchased in 2019 and 2020.

The ICPC officers who visited the area to check on the named recipients revealed that they had not received the products and that the lawmaker’s operatives had thwarted all attempts to get entry to the warehouse.

The officials, who asked to remain anonymous, claimed they were refused entry to the warehouse after three tries owing to the lawmaker’s team’s unwillingness to transport them there.

“We have a list of the intended recipients,” authorities stated, “but those we phoned said they did not receive the products.”

Nobody was present to show the ICPC team evidence of the rural electrification project given by Projects Development Agency, according to the ICPC team.

The anti-graft officers claimed they were able to verify that functioning solar-powered lighting had been erected in Okpoko and Umunankwo in the Ogbaru Federal Constituency.

The ICPC authorities in Orumba North and South also confirmed the donation of an 18-seater bus to a community in Akpu, which was approved for the legislator in 2019.

The ICPC officers in the Anambra North Senatorial Zone checked and talked with several market women who received training and a N80,000 start-up money apiece.

The money, the ladies said, helped them grow their different enterprises, which provided income for their families.

Still in Anambra North, ICPC officials verified that certain youngsters were given ICT training and received N20,000 as transportation fee.

Only one of the recipients claimed to have received a computer and printer, and none of the 22 trainees claimed to have received the N120,000 allowed in the bill of quantities.

Youth were allegedly given tricycles, but ICPC authorities said that no one recipient could be identified as proof that the initiative was carried out.

The ICPC is presently on the third phase of the tracking exercise, which will cover 18 states, according to NAN.

Azuka Ogugua, an ICPC spokeswoman, said in a statement that a total of 1,251 projects, including 1,024 constituencies and 227 executive projects, had been submitted for tracking under the 2019 and 2020 budgets.

Ronaldo Asks Man Utd board to Replace Solskjaer with Zidane

According to El Chiringuito, Cristiano Ronaldo has advised Manchester United’s board to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Zinedine Zidane.

Following a 4-2 loss to Leicester City on Saturday, Solskjaer has been under greater scrutiny.

The Red Devils have lost three matches in the Premier League.

United’s leadership is said to have given Solskjaer their full support, believing the 48-year-old would enhance the team’s performance.

Senior officials at Old Trafford, on the other hand, are weighing their alternatives and have identified him as a viable contender, based on Ronaldo’s proposal.

According to the report, Zidane has met with United’s management, but he is interested in succeeding Didier Deschamps as France’s new head coach.

It’s also been reported that Zidane was approached by both PSG and Newcastle United, but the former Real Madrid manager declined both offers.
