Release and pay me N5bn damages – Nnamdi Kanu Sues FG

NNamdi kanu sues the FG

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has asked an Abia State High Court to force the Nigerian government to free him and pay him N5 billion in damages.

IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu sues the FG and asked the court to order the

Nigerian government to pay him N5 billion

in compensation for infringing on his fundamental human rights, through his

Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor.

Ejimakor revealed this as he began the process of enforcing Kanu’s fundamental rights.

Ejimakor requested the court to order the Nigerian government to free the IPOB

leader in a statement released on Tuesday.

“Today, I obtained an order from the High Court of Abia State to

serve by substituted an application for enforcement of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s

basic rights, which I just submitted before the High Court of Abia State,”

Ejimakor said.

He said that Kanu’s rights were violated during the purported extrajudicial

assassination attempt on his life in Abia in 2017, as well as his kidnapping in

Kenya and extraordinary rendition to Nigeria.

Ejimakor also asked the court for some relief in the execution of Kanu’s fundamental rights.

Among the reliefs sought, Ejimakor requested that the court order the Nigerian government to publicly apologize to Kanu.

He suggested that a letter of apology be published in national newspapers.

“An order mandating and compelling the respondents or their agents to forthwith release the applicant from detention and restitute or otherwise restore applicant to his liberty, same as his state of being as of June 19, 2021; and to thereupon repatriate the Applicant to his country of domicile (to wit: Britain) to await the outcome of any formal request the Respondent may make,”

the reliefs read in part (Nnamdi Kanu sues the FG of Nigeria vs Nnamdi Kanu).

“An order directing and directing the respondents to pay the applicant the sum of N5000,000,000.00 (Five Billion Naira) as monetary damages for physical, mental, emotional, psychological, and other damages suffered by the applicant as a result of the respondents’ infringements of applicant’s fundamental rights.”

The Nigerian government has been prosecuting Kanu since his detention in 2017 for advocating for Biafra independence and, by implication, the breakup of Nigeria.

Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court, on the other hand, granted him bail.

Soldiers raided his home in Afaraukwu, Abia State, shortly after the bail was granted.

Kanu left Nigeria to Europe, where he resumed his Biafra movement, claiming that the military were on a mission to assassinate him.

The Nigerian authorities, on the other hand, recently re-arrested the IPOB leader in Kenya and deported him to Nigeria.

The pro-Biafra activist was detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) upon his return to Nigeria.

United’s leadership is said to have given Solskjaer their full support, believing the 48-year-old would enhance the team’s performance.

Senior officials at Old Trafford, on the other hand, are weighing their alternatives and have identified him as a viable contender, based on Ronaldo’s proposal.

According to the report, Zidane has met with United’s management, but he is interested in succeeding Didier Deschamps as France’s new head coach.

It’s also been reported that Zidane was approached by both PSG and Newcastle United, but the former Real Madrid manager declined both offers.
